07-4010 Alarm Systems Trainer
The Progressive home security training systems are hands-on training tools designed to prepare students for a career as fire alarm technician. These systems reproduce a typical situation where students can develop their skills in the installation and wiring of fire alarm systems.
Two systems are available: the Conventional Fire Alarm System, Model 4010, and the Addressable Fire Alarm System, Model 4020. Each system mainly consists of a fire alarm control panel, initiating devices including fire alarm stations, heat and smoke detectors, notification appliances including horns, and strobe lights. The devices mount on electrical boxes attached to powder coated screened metal panel that can be fixed to a desktop or Mobile Workstation. Connections are made using sheathed patchcords to component jacks.
Student learning is based on practical hands-on tasks. The main objectives are the reading of fire alarm schematic diagrams, wiring, component installation, the configuration of fire alarm control panels, and testing system operation. The training systems include all the equipment required to perform the exercises contained in the courseware. The training system comes complete with self paced instructional resources employing a individualized basic approach to the study of fire alarm systems. Instructional resources include a training manual with clearly stated objectives, and a companion instructor's lesson planning guide.
The Lesson Plan includes an Instructor's Guide which provides instructions for installing, setting up, and implementing the module. It also includes learning outcomes, testing and evaluation procedures, answer keys, student skills response, inventory list and print CD.
The Student Activity manual guides students through 20 multi-disciplinary activities using the tools, and equipment included with the module package. It also contains daily activity response sheets and activity notes.
